Currently the headquarters of the Morris County Historical Society and a showcase for period room furnishings, this 1853 Italianate-style residence is remarkably preserved example of upper class early-Victorian lifestyle.  A dining room wing, tower and veranda added in 1860 increase the property’s overall elegance.

The current grant will help fund construction of an accessible ramp and entry to the main first floor of Acorn Hall, work that was recommended by a 2001 accessibility study also funded by a Trust grant.  An earlier capital preservation grant helped pay for roof construction work and exterior restoration of porches and the dining room bay window.
