The matching grant will help fund a historic structures report for this restored house museum that is now interpreted as a Revolutionary era tavern. The purpose of the report is to consolidate previous research, prioritize and cost repairs, and guide the re-evaluation of the building's period of significance and interpretation as a historic site.

The Allen House is one of five historic museums owned and operated by the Monmouth County Historical Association, which received a Trust grant for the restoration of Marlpit Hall in 1995.
