The Anthony Reckless Estate is significant as one of Red Bank's finest examples of a suburban residence in the Italianate style, associated with one of the town's founders and leading citizens, State Senator Anthony Reckless. It subsequently became the home of a prominent local attorney Frederick W. Hope, and has served as the home of the Women's Club of Red Bank since 1921.
The grant will help fund Phase II interior and exterior improvements including the construction of an accessible side entrance, and an environmental analysis prior to installation of new air conditioning system for the first floor rooms.
The Anthony Reckless Estate is one of Red Bank's finest examples of a suburban Italianate residence. Built in 1870 for one of the town's founding fathers and leading citizens, State Senator Anthony Reckless, the house has served as the headquarters for the civic-minded Women's Club since 1921.
The Trust grant funded a preservation plan that is guiding the club's efforts to restore and rehabilitate the residential building.
