The Black Creek Site is an archaeological site consisting of 40 acres of field, partial woodland, and a creek. Its period of significance spans nearly 10,000 years, extending from approximately 8,000 BC to 1740. It is believed that the Black Creek Site served as a hub of Native American subsistence pursuits, settlement behavior and social activities.  The site is also important for its associations with a major legal challenge to the NJ Register Act. The site was acquired by Wawayanda State Park from the Township and now features a hiking trail and an outdoor classroom.  The site is in good condition and is maintained by the township maintenance department under direction of the Historical Society.

The current Trust grant will help fund the preparation of an interpretive plan for the site.
