The Cedar Bridge Tavern was constructed circa 1775 by John Middleton, Jr. and retains good integrity, including a rare early-nineteenth century bar from when the building served as a tavern. The property may also be the site of one of the last land engagements of the Revolutionary War. The building was situated on a stagecoach road that was bypassed by later roads, which probably contributed to the resource’s longevity.  Acquired by the county in 2007, the current resident has life tenancy.

The grant will help fund the preparation of a National Register nomination , and a preservation plan. The preservation plan will set priorities for future restoration as well as identify potential uses and interpretation for the site.
