The Chesterford Schoolhouse was constructed circa 1811, is well-preserved example and one of the few early 19^th century schools still standing in New Jersey. Overall, the building is in fair condition.

The grant will help fund the completion of a National Register Nomination, completion of a preservation plan, and for architectural services, specifically the preparation of construction documents. Among other things, the proposed project will investigate making the building handicap accessible.
