The Chesterford Schoolhouse was constructed circa 1811, is well-preserved example and one of the few early 19^th century schools still standing in New Jersey. Overall, the building is in fair condition.

The grant helped fund the preparation of a National Register Nomination, completion of a preservation plan, and construction documents. The project also investigated accessibility alternatives.
