The Chesterford Schoolhouse was constructed circa 1811, is well-preserved example and one of the few early 19th century schools still standing in New Jersey. Overall, the building is in fair condition.

The grant will help fund the completion of a National Register Nomination, completion of a preservation plan, and for architectural services, specifically the preparation of construction documents. Among other things, the proposed project will investigate making the building handicap accessible.
