The Israel Crane House, built in 1796, is an excellent example of a Federal-style residence. The house was saved in 1965 by the Montclair Historical Society from demolition and moved to its current location. It now serves as a house museum, meeting space, and exhibition space.
The brick walkways leading to and around the Crane House have deteriorated to a point where they are unsafe to visitors. The grant will fund reconstructing the walks in brick to provide barrier-free access across the site. The work is guided by a ADA Plan.
