Tulipwood is notable for its Colonial Revival architecture and was likely designed in 1892 by architect, J. August Lienau, son of the famed Danish architect Detlaf Lienau.

The Trust grant will help fund the stabilization and restoration of the front porch, which is currently unusable. Recently acquired, the house will eventually be used as a living history museum and leased for special events.
