The Dey Mansion is an outstanding example of a Georgian farm/plantation dwelling. The house is also significant because it served as the military headquarters of General George Washington during July, October and November of 1780.

The grant will help fund the preparation of a historic structures report. The report will assess the mansion house and develop a phased restoration plan. The 2002 grant helped fund the preparation of a cultural landscape report to develop a restoration plan for the Dey Mansion Colonial Revival garden, which was designed by the Olmsted Brothers landscape architecture firm in 1934.
