Glen Alpin was constructed as the country estate of Henry Holt around 1840. The building is one of the best remaining examples of Gothic Revival cottage architecture in New Jersey. The house exemplifies the Picturesque Style popularized throughout the United States by Andrew Jackson Downing and A. J. Davis during the mid-19th century. The house is currently vacant, but the township is planning to open the house for guided tours.

The current Trust grant will help fund exterior restoration work to the clay tile roof, 116 windows, exterior doors and wood trim, and electrical upgrades.  The work is being guided by a previously funded preservation plan.  The building will eventually house offices and other public meeting and reception spaces.
