The municipal building is a three-part structure (police, municipal offices, library), built from 1918 to 1930, with its trademark cupola added in 1937.  Its Italian Renaissance- influenced design is the result of a architectural competition that was driven by a 1909 master plan for Glen Ridge, one of the first communities in the state to have such a planning tool.

The Trust grant will assist the preparation of construction documents to address the most urgent need that were identified in a 2004 preservation plan that was funded by a grant from the Historic Trust.  The Phase I work will address inadequate roof and drainage systems, cracked brick veneer and deteriorated wood and metal windows.
