Longstreet Farm is an excellent and unusually complete example of a prosperous nineteenth-century farm, typical of the Dutch-settled areas of New Jersey. Surrounded by county parkland, the farmstead consists of a Federal-style farmhouse, a rare surviving Dutch barn, and a highly intact collection of nineteenth-century farm outbuildings. Longstreet Farm is interpreted as a living historical farm.
The grant will fund the restoration of the farm's rare Dutch barn, one of the few remaining in the State. Also included in the grant work is a historic structure report that will guide the work, which includes: replacement of the roof with wood shingles, removing and closing all non-historic openings and restoring original windows and doors.
