The Morris Canal operated across New Jersey from 1824 to 1924. It was the highest climbing canal ever constructed and played a crucial role in the industrial development of New Jersey. Lock 2 and the adjoining lock tender’s house are currently considered ruins, but are along one of the two best preserved sections of the canal.

The grant will help fund the preparation of a historic site master plan and the preparation of interpretive materials including brochures, signage and a display.
