In 1877 the Belleville brownstone structures at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, a public cemetery, were built to the design of architect Thomas Stent in the Victorian Gothic style. This grant will help fund phase three of the cemetery's on-going building restoration program. The work underway consists of stabilization and repairs to the two brownstone buildings at the Belleville entrance of the cemetery, the Liche Gate entranceway, the receiving vault, and the founders' monument.
