The Old School House in Mount Holly, built in 1759, may be the oldest one room school house in New Jersey on its original foundation.  For many years, the school provided free education and since 1960s has been a museum for school children and public visitors.  Architecturally, the school house is a fine example of a patterned brick structure.

The school house was documented by HABS in the 1930s, but little is actually known about the history of the school, its founder or its previous preservation programs.

The grant will help fund original research and the preparation of a nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
