The foundation of Rosen Mill may date to a mill built in c. 1827.  As the water-powered and then steam-powered mill industry developed in Paterson, Rosen Mill grew, also known as Aaron King’s “Stone Mill”.  From the 1930s to 1970s the building was vacant.  ECUMP acquired the building in the 1970s and rehabilitated the building for use as a parochial school with the rehabilitation funded in part by City of Paterson.  The ground floor also houses an ABBOTT pre-school. The mill is part of a mill complex including the Roger’s Locomotive Works which was rehabilitated with Historic Trust funding in 2000 into a job training facility.

The grant will assist preparing a preservation plan for the building.  The plan will guide the building’s further rehabilitation and maintenance. It will also explore site interpretation, signage, and development of a visitor’s center interpreting the history of the mill and surviving mill machinery.
