Matching Grant Awards
Grant Award: $344,698 (1993)
Grant Recipient: Court Street School Education Community Center
County: Monmouth
Municipality: Freehold

Initially constructed in 1921 and later expanded in 1926, this Colonial Revival style brick schoolhouse was designed by locally prominent architect Warren H. Conover. The Court Street School is associated with the history of early-twentieth century education in Freehold, and has long been a major focal point of its African-American community.

The Trust grant helped fund the school's rehabilitation as the Court Street School Education Community Center, which provides a wide variety of education programs for Freehold's youth.
