The Hudson Manhattan Powerhouse was constructed in 1906, impressive not only for its size, but also its architectural detail including round headed Romanesque windows, brick arcades, corbelled brick tower, and steel smoke stacks. The building served as a powerhouse between 1908 and 1929. It was then used primarily for storage.

The Trust grant will help fund the continued stabilization of the Powerhouse. The goal of the proposed project is to make the building weather tight by providing temporary roofing, enclosing of the roof monitors, and performing a comprehensive inspection of the remaining smokestacks.
