The brick church was constructed in 1866 in the Romanesque Revival style. It features a stone foundation, an octagonal spire on a wood base, and keystones over the basement window openings. The adjacent chapel was constructed in 1886 in the Shingle Style and includes a unique conical roofed tower with a brick chimney extending through its center. The chapel houses the church's community center.

Historically, the church had close ties to the Oxford Furnace and Shippen Manor, located two blocks from the church, as well as the Scranton family who established the iron furnace in Oxford. The Second Presbyterian Church is the last remaining church in its original location within the Oxford Industrial Historic District.

The Trust grant helped fund the preparation of a condition assessment for the church and chapel as well as the design of site interpretation.
